Amanda Dunn, LMSW

Amanda (she/her) is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who holds a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work from Smith College. Her approach is warm, relational, and collaborative, integrating psychodynamic, attachment-based, trauma-informed, and humanistic perspectives. Amanda believes people are more than their symptoms or diagnoses and views therapy as a space to safely explore thoughts, emotions, and patterns while building on the strengths clients already possess.

Amanda leads with unconditional positive regard, creating a nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore all parts of themselves, including those “darker” sides that may feel difficult to accept or be alone with. She believes healing can happen through a trusting therapeutic relationship and works collaboratively with each client to tailor therapy to their unique needs.

In her work, Amanda draws from psychodynamic, person-centered, and narrative therapy, as well as more practical skills-based theories, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Amanda has experience supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, and substance use disorders. She has also worked with queer and trans youth experiencing housing insecurity. Amanda is sex- and kink-positive and is passionate about supporting queer and neurospicy communities. Amanda enjoys working with adults and older adults of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities and has a deep understanding of people in their environment and how institutional structures can create additional barriers to thriving in life.

Outside of therapy, Amanda enjoys gardening, reading, swing dancing, spending time outdoors, and being with animals. Before becoming a therapist, she worked as a waitress, cook, baker, farmer, outdoor educator, sailor, and dog walker.
