Jamie McErlean (she/they) is a proud trans clinician at Maverick Psychotherapy Group. She holds a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SUNY New Paltz and has experience supporting adults of all ages with particular specialty working with transgender/nonbinary, queer populations, and questioning, and neurodivergent individuals while also working extensively with trauma, interpersonal conflicts, self-acceptance, and mental illnesses ranging from depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and more. 

Jamie hopes to be able to help carve out a safe space for clients, cheering them on in their victories and being a calm, empathetic presence during their losses. She believes everyone deserves respect and should be embraced with all of their differences intact. As a therapist, Jamie approaches from a person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed standpoint, with an emphasis on identity and values, and in helping clients meet their personal goals of reflection, self-growth, self-acceptance and healing from where they are and at the pace that best fits them. This includes an eclectic approach by working in elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and feminist and narrative therapies to best suit the individual. 

Outside of professional pursuits, Jamie is a lifelong nerd and aspiring fantasy book author and is always happy to meet others' creative sides!
