Shannon Cuthbert-Yates, MHC-LP
Shannon (she/her) is a provisional mental health counselor who works with individuals and couples who are seeking support with anxiety, depression, relational concerns, grief and loss, and life transitions. She is particularly interested in working with clients who identify as caretakers, people pleasers, overachievers, Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), or as those struggling with social anxiety or isolation from others.
She believes therapy can provide clients with powerful tools to connect to others while building a life that feels more joyful and authentic. Her goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to heal.
Shannon uses an integrative approach, blending elements of psychodynamic, attachment-based, and schema therapies. She is in the process of completing the Foundations of Jungian Theory and Practice Certificate Program through the C.G. Jung Institute of New England.
Her work is informed by a feminist and intersectional approach that considers the unique lived experiences and identities of each individual when working with clients to set therapy goals and tailor personalized treatment plans.
Outside of counseling, Shannon’s background includes extensive experiences as a childcare provider working closely with new parents, and volunteering with survivors of sexual assault. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz’s Mental Health Counseling master’s program in 2026, having completed field placements working with children at the New Paltz Youth Center and with clients of all ages at a private practice. She lives with her husband and cat Evie in Rockland County, and enjoys hiking, writing, and drawing in her free time.
